“But that’s not what I want to do…”

Have you ever felt this way when discussing jobs with family?

Maybe you feel like you’re being pushed into a career field that you’re not interested in?

Take a few minutes and watch this video from Comedian Bobby Lee about his experience with becoming a Comedian and Entertainer. What his parents thought and how he handled the situation. He has some great insights about life.

I’ll tell you now as an Upward Bound Advisor the careers I here people say they feel pushed into are often are Nurse, Doctor, Lawyer, Pharmacist, and Engineer. These are great fields to be passionate about! But, what if you aren’t passionate about them? To some people, these career fields have been a symbol of more that just income level. They are a sign of respect, education, dedication, honor, sacrifice, and respect. Because it’s hard work to be successful in them. But sometimes you can’t force yourself to be interested in something. But know this,

IT’S O.K. IF YOU DON’T WANT TO DO THAT!

Comment with some of your thoughts. What would your family say if you told them you wanted to be a comedian?
